There are two types of threaded flanges. A kind of threaded flange with low nominal pressure is generally used in galvanized steel pipe and other places where it is not suitable for welding, and it is not suitable for pipes with repeated temperature fluctuation or above 260 鈩?and below – 45 鈩? The other is used for high pressure condition, using two tube ends with external thread and machined into a certain shape sealing surface with lens gasket to seal. This kind of flange used to be used in synthetic ammonia production. In addition, threaded flanges should be avoided on any piping where crevice corrosion, severe erosion or cyclic loading may occur.
Matters needing attention
Thread flange is a kind of non welding flange, which processes the inner hole of flange into pipe thread and connects with the pipe with thread. Compared with the flat welding flange or butt welding flange, the screw flange has the characteristics of convenient installation and maintenance, and can be used on some pipelines which are not allowed to be welded on the site. Alloy steel flange has enough strength, but it is not easy to weld, or welding performance is not good, screw flange can also be selected. However, under the condition of rapid change of pipe temperature or temperature higher than 260 鈩?and lower than -45 鈩? it is recommended that screw flange is not used to avoid leakage.
